As a '03 Pilot I have seen it all. And I can asure you, that some of the best PVPs and FCs of EVE have grown outa FW, no matter what faction.
FW is intense, demanding, taktical, strategic with constant pressure, so that even EVE entities like Pandemic Legion ( snigg waffe ) or BoB ( Black Nova ) sent their PVPs into FW to become hardend for war.
In the early days, during the first Periode of FW, we called it Darwins Law : Only the best survive. There was no discussion, no hesitation within fleets, those who lagged behind, lost contact to fleet or didnt follow orders, were doomed. Natural selection.
That might sound harsh and cruel, but you will understand it, when you KB check the epic battles that accured those days on regular basis. 150+ vs 150+ and myriards of drones assigned to the respective faction FCs. The deal was not outblobbing, it was Blob vs blob. And there was smooth cooperation between caldaris and ammars along with big time fun like this :
joined capkill ops
We had an EU primetime and we had a US primetime for Blobs, and still there was enough room inbetween for smaller roams. We had hillarious scirmishes with our favourite pirate corp Invicta ( now Snuff took their part ) like this one :
Dannehs Nightmare ( As far as I know, the most expensive single BS loss of FW history. Btw, I would be more than happy to see a KM posted in here that tops this, take that for granted.)
There was tons of smack, but at the end of the day respect for our enemies. Gals showed balls and jumped more than once into our camps. Not a big deal, you might say, but you have to take into account, that they lost more than 3 secs of battle cause of lag at that time. And the other way round, when we decided to jumpin.
Oh, and the antivenom for spies was not invented by Draketrains moto : everyone will be accepted, just apply. That used to be our politics the early days, froming fleets outa general militia chat and the major Corps. We just countered those spies, by seeding wrong intel. Sure, we checked KB stats as far as we could, but it was much easier to get into fleets along with the opportunity to show up as a valuable part of the team. In that case, it was less elite. We could easily affort open politics like this, what significantly changed during the third period of FW, what was understandable not possible anymore.
Also part of our tactics during the first and second Periode : the two pipe varriant. Means : one wing for the Kedama pipe, one wing for the Sujarento pipe simutaniously to meet up in Old Man Star at the same time to engage everything crossing our way and/or close system. And there was not at all a colony of sheeps in Nourv. We just could affort it to relax and/or rally in Nourv. Other than that, we came from Piak, if we wanted to, np.
So, was it all better those days ? No. It was just a different experience.
Me and many other proud veterans, who are active in Nullsec alliances, saw and still see FW evolving. Despite of them "unholy Politics" that seeded war within Caldari Militia, which was indeed a pain in the a$$. - So still I agree, and Mantis is not overrating the role of the heads during the third Periode of FW : Caldari adapted in a very smart way, like the gals did during the second Periode when Caldari were uber.
Yes, Hidden Snake, and this is the linky for Hasmijaala : true caldari history ... and this is the Mothership we manged to kill by batphone same time, same system : capkill
To sum it up : I urge everyone, whos just joining or is already in FW, show up with some decent Kills in advance. You will be invited, to support your FCs, CEOs, whatever : trust me, its not easy to keep the overview and its a hard job to be a leader, but ... very rewarding.
And now, I will give some more beef that comes to my mind spontaniously, not mentioned so far, but should be added for sure.
Corps : MoreCowbell, Steelsoldiers, Beyond Divinity (pies), aso. ( Check KB links above for more input ).
Excellent Soldiers, FCs, CEOs : GavinGoodrich, Chatgris, Necroman alias Flickstick Rick, Corwin, Tanaka, Psyflame, Andraz and many, many others. ( Check KB links above for more input ).
FW will not forget. At the end its all part of FW history as Mantis' adventure shows you in his nice write up. Its not all golden, true, Bad Messenger, but ones for sure : if you make it in FW, you make it everywhere.
And finally : First General. He is not the only Head left in Caldari/Ammar FW. There are corps like Four Horsemen along with Dark Pengolin, Hells along with Gunny and Superchair, - and some other uprising Corps/ FCs we need. But I knew, I could count on First General, when he suddenly appeared outa nothing. Well done m8 !
These are my 2cents, cause this thread is worth it / long live the State and a salute for all soldiers who died and die in silence.
Ps, Im still waiting for Gals/Minnies Book of History thread. |
